Miramar
Miramar is way up the mountain through Santa Rita, Cabañas, and then Old Town. It is quite a drive, but it is so beautiful! However, with it being at such a high elevation, if it rains, there is always a risk of not being able to get back down the mountain. Miramar was also one of the first villages that Dennis and Teresa visited. The first thing that was noticed was the many safety issues. The school was very old and maintenance was non-existent. The big adobe building that was once an amazing structure was coming down. . literally.

Then, in 2025, God's timing came to fruition. The new building at Miramar is big. . three classrooms to be exact. When we first began visiting at Miramar, there were close to 90 children on the role. In fact, at one point, there were 15 Kinder children crammed into a very small space that was more like a closet. There was not room to even walk. Needless to say, the safety issues took a toll on the number of children who were attending school. In 2025, the children met in the community center and some houses in the community so that construction could take place. The old adobe building was completely torn down. Then, in October of 2025, the renovations were made to the old building, and a huge paint job was set in motion. We are thankful for the community and teachers that helped to build the new building, and who came out to help paint. We are also very thankful for Confesor, who watched over the construction and did much of the work. The children will start the 2026 school year in new classrooms that are beautiful and safe.

There are four teachers at Miramar: Manuel, the Director; Ada; Blanca; and Floridalmo. Miramar is also fortunate to have individuals in the community who assist as well. They have approximately 70 children. However, we are expecting more children to return to school as the new building opens. The dedication of the new building will be on Thursday, February 5th. Be watching for pictures and videos to share in the experience. We are so excited about what God is doing at Miramar! He has provided mightily as the teachers stay committed to Him, His Word, and the growth of His Kingdom through the children in their classrooms.
