La Laguna
La Laguna holds a special place in the heart of Project Education Honduras, as it was here that the vision from God first took shape. In 2017, during a two-week mission trip, Dennis and Teresa met Roxanna, the dedicated Director, and her team of teachers, sparking a vision for the future of education in the area, where God is at the center and guiding all things. By 2021, their efforts expanded to include renovating facilities and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Chorti villages. La Laguna remains one of our eleven schools, where we continue to partner with Roxanna, and her husband, Misael, who is also a teacher in Copan.
In 2021, when Dennis and Teresa organized their first team, they served in La Laguna, renovating the Kinder bathrooms and teaching the first mini-VBS. It was this team that then became the first PEH Board and some of them continue to be Visionary Team Members, who pray vigilantly and continue to help cast a vision for ministry in schools in Honduras.
When PEH first began, La Laguna was receiving assistance from other non-profits. However, in recent years, the amount of support has diminished. As a result, in 2025, the PEH Board discerned that we should add La Laguna as now one of the schools where we are serving.

La Laguna is the largest PEH school with approximately 130 children. The school serves Kinder children through 9th grade, and there are five teachers. Beginning in February of 2026, PEH will be implementing the Feeding and Medicine Program. In addition, we will be giving them a clean water kit.

Roxanna has been a leader in teaching the Bible to her students at La Laguna. It was her idea to begin teaching the Honduran virtues using scripture and stories. In addition, she believes in the importance of memorizing scripture and encourages her students to memorize one verse a week. She is such a strong example of what it means to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30
